Obituary of Mr. Nelson Smith

It's with profound sadness that we, the Prestige Funeral Home Staff, announce the passing of Mr. Nelson Smith. The family will begin receiving friends on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at 2114 Highway 9, Dillon, SC. Please remember the Smith Family in your prayers as they prepare to celebrate the life and legacy of Mr. Nelson Smith. The obituary: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 Mr. Nelson C. Smith, son of the late Curtis Smith and Eva Mae Manning Smith, was born September 10, 1964 in Dillon, South Carolina. He departed this life July 22, 2023 at his residence. Nelson was preceded in death by his two sisters, Voncle Smith and Vera G. “Coot” Smith. Nelson was a member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church. He attended Dillon County public schools. He was a graduate of the class of 1982. After high school, he was employed with Twin Lakes Country Club before starting his welding career in 1997 where he became a certified welder. He was a CNC Machinist Operator at Wyman Gordon beginning in 2016 and was employed there for four years. Nelson will be remembered by most as quiet and humbled but, to friends and family he was very outspoken and would definitely make you laugh. Nelson leaves to cherish his memories a devoted, loving wife, Sarah Smith; two children Patrice Bethea of Florence, SC, Brandon (Felicia) Bethea, of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren: Tylan (Ty), Casey, Kamarion, Breann, Ya’Niyha, Chelsea; five sisters: Ollie Smith, Josephine (Stephenson) Bethea, Eva M. (Charles) Smiling, Sally M. Smith, and Ruth A. Smith, all of Dillon, SC; four brothers: Copeland Ray (Janet) Smith of Hamer, SC; Curtis (Sandra) Smith, Jr of Lauringburg, NC; Eugene (Annetta) Smith of Lumberton, NC and Noel (Tasha) Smith of Bennettsville, SC; one sister-in-law Genevea (Simmie)McCall of High Point, NC; one brother-in-law, Charlie (Jackie) Bethea of Winston Salem, NC; three special friends, Eugene Kelly, Terry Charles, and Dewayne McInnis and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
