Mother Lue Christie

Obituary of Mother Lue Pearl Christie

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. Matthew 13:45 – 46 (KJV) Mother Lue Pearl (Cox) Christie, affectionately known as “Pearl” or “Mother Christie” peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Mother Christie was born on May 7, 1936, in Latta, South Carolina, to the late Andrew Cox, Sr. and the late Pearline Cox. Mother Christie received her education in the Latta School District and, in 1954,graduated from Dillon County Training High School in Latta, South Carolina. Later, she continued her education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. After receiving her education, Mother Christie embraced one of several transitional periods. During the Great Migration era, Mother Christie relocated to Bronx, New York. She was united in holy matrimony to the late George Constantine Christie. She secured employment with the New York City Department of Social Services. Her tenure with the New York City Department of Social Services was shortened by the required health care of her youngest son. She quickly transitioned to the position of a homemaker. After eighteen (18) years as resident of Bronx, New York, Mother Christie welcomed the hospitable transition to Latta, South Carolina where she remained in retirement. Mother Christie was introduced and accepted Christ at an early age. She demonstrated enthusiasm about prayer and passionately embraced Bible study sessions. Through her transitional Christian experience, she served as a member of the Mother’s Board and faithful parishioner of The Door of Hope Christian Church in Marion, South Carolina under the tutelage of Bishop Michael A. Blue, until the demise of her health. She committed her life to loving and serving our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mother Christie adorned as “Pearl” was admired by her humble uniqueness. The rarity of a pearl is that it is the only natural gem. Unlike diamonds, rubies or emeralds, a pearl requires no cutting or polishing. Mother Christie or “Pearl” was a natural, joyful praiser and worshipper. She was naturally witty and humorous. She was known to have a natural ability to strengthen valuable relationships. She was admired by her natural, unique, and tenacious spirit and ability to think through tough situations. These transitional periods would lead her to the last earthly transitional depot, where she traded that one pearl of great price, extreme and precious value ~ the kingdom of God, her greatest aspiration. This would be the final transition from her earthen vessel to her Heavenly home. Mother Christie was preceded in death by her husband: George Constantine Christie; her daughter: Roslyn Yvonne Cox; her only brother: Andrew Cox, Jr.; her sister: Dorothy “Dott” Lee Cox; and a special niece: Andrea Cox. Mother Christie leaves to cherish her legacy of love and wisdom, two daughters:Gwendolyn Faye (Cox) Rouse of Norristown, PA and Carolyn Yvette Christie of Florence, SC; two sons: Jonathan Stephan (Cynthia) Cox of Norristown, PA and George Andrew Christie of Conway, SC; nine grandchildren: Kia (James) Perkins;Jonathan (Brittany) Cox, Jr.; George Andrew Christie, Jr.; Ashley Cox, Aaron Christie; Shakeria (Khabir) Pryor; Desiree Rouse; Cameron Cox and Aiden Christie; six great-grandchildren: Bryce, Cheyeanne, Carter, Farah, Kobe, and Dehlani; three adopted daughters: Diane Lawrence, Jacqueline Crawford, and Rosemary Campbell; two siblings: Mae Edna McClam and Takiya Abdullah of Latta, SC; one sister-in-law: Ocelia (Andrew) Cox of Bronx, NY and one special aunt: Lula Mae Godfrey of Latta, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, associates and friends.
