Mother Willie McDonald

Obituary of Mother Willie Lucille McDonald

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Ms. Willie Lucille McDonald was born on April 4, 1943 to the late William McDonald and to the late Louisiana McLaurin McDonald. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at McLeod’s Hospice in Dillon, SC. Lucille was educated at Gordon High School in Dillon. She was a devoted lifelong member of Hazy Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the Senior Choir, served in Vacation Bible School, hosted Easter programs, and served as Sunday School Secretary. Lucille was employed by Charles Craft for more than 30 years. One of her greatest passions was cooking. She prepared massive Sunday dinners for her family. Her specialties include lima beans, liver and rice, collard greens, chicken and rice, and her beloved salmon patties. Lucille was a dedicated mother to her boys by watching football and basketball games with them. She also became a mother to all of her nieces and nephews by sending birthday cards and preparing their favorite meals. Lucille spoke her mind, and always spoke truth to whoever asked. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Clara Bell Ford, Hattie Grooms, Johnnie McDonald, Leroy McDonald, Carolyn White, and Carl Dan McDonald. Lucille leaves to cherish fond memories to her sons, Tony (Katina) McDonald of Crofton, MD, Terry McDonald of the home and Eric McDonald of Rowland, NC; grandchildren, Christopher McDonald, Corisha Purnell, TaShonda (Aaron) Williams, Jarius McDonald, David McDonald, Gabrielle McDonald, Jamie Williams, and Darius Munley; 4 great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard (Thelma) McDonald of Rowland, NC; two sisters, Betty (Donald) Dotson of Freeport, NY and Kathy (Minister Joshua) Borden of Dillon, SC; one sister-in-law, Jean McDonald and one brother-in-law, Perry White. She had several close friends whom she loved like sisters, her phone buddies. One special cousin/sister, Eloise Page of Pembroke, NC. Lucille touched many lives with her generosity, sense of humor and her warmth. The family would like to thank all who assisted in Lucille’s care; Sunny Acres Nursing Home of Fork, SC, and McLeod Hospice Care in Dillon. Lucille’s memory will be cherished and adored by all who were blessed to have known her. The family is receiving friends at 2432 Rebecca Road, Hamer, SC 29574. Please remember the McDonald Family in your prayers.
