Isaiah 40:31 NIV but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Fred Lofton Taylor, Sr. began the first chapter of his life February 8, 1942, in Buena Vista, Georgia. The earthy authors of his book were Cartrell Taylor and Amanda Mack. His Heavenly Father called him home to begin a new chapter on Saturday, March 4, 2023. Fred was educated in public schools and began his trade as a “Master Plasterer” in 1965 until approximately 2016 when he retired. An avid lover of motorcycles, Fred took pride in his burgundy Honda Goldwing which he became a member of the Chesapeake Riders Motorcycle Club of Chesapeake, Virginia. He was a member of the Prince Hall as a Master Mason. Fred, known as “Rico” or “Bruh” to many of his relatives, friends and associates was, full of life. He would hang with the best of them, including his children, nieces and nephews, and you can bet wherever Fred would go, he was the life of the party and when he left, he left you with memories and of course jokes. You couldn’t wear you feelings on your sleeve or be sensitive because Dad, Uncle Fred, Granddaddy had a comeback for everything. No matter who you were, Fred would make you feel like family, he would tell you, “I Love You”. If you need his help, he would give it freely, if you need to be cussed out, you got it. Everyone knows, Fred was a sharp dresser from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet, everything had to be coordinated, as he would say, “Well put together like a fine piece of leather” or “Taylor made, slim, trim and neat.” Sitting on the Dock of the Bay was his favorite song, his favorite color was blue, favorite flower, roses and his favorite season was winter. Fred was preceded in death by his wives Flora J. Mclellan and Pandora Richardson, father Cartrell Taylor, mother, Amanda Mack and step mother, Carolyn Holmes, brothers George, Melvin, James, Cartrell Taylor and Gerald Holmes, sisters Florzell Tennyson, Verdell Stewart,Laura Neal, Rosie Dunns, Mary Oates and his son Alexander (Roy) Mclellan and daughter Victoria T. Brown. Fred leaves to cherish his jokes and memories his brother Horace Taylor of Norfolk, VA, sister, Shelia Brown (Wade) of Chesapeake, VA, children John Mclellan, Charles (Gladys) Mclellan, Judie McKoy (Johnny), Fred L. Taylor Jr. of Hamer, SC., Amanda Taylor-Buie (Milton) of Dillon, Brandon Dickerson of Hampton, VA and Tori Rome of Newport News, VA and Preszerisariah (Benny) of Monroe, GA and a host of relatives and friends, grandchildren, great grandchildren, godson Henry Pernell and special friend Phyllis Dixon. Fred’s message to you, “Celebrate and enjoy life to the fullest and continue to love one another.” The family is receiving friends at 2240 Carver Hall Road, Dillon, SC. Per the request of the family, please refrain from taking pictures or videos at the viewing and service of Mr. Taylor. Please continue to remember the Taylor Family in your prayers.
