Obituary of Mother Thelma Bethea Manning

Mrs. Thelma B. Manning was born October 24, 1934 to Mary Gertrude Bethea of Atlantic City, NJ. She departed her earthly home on December 5, 2021. She attended the public schools of Dillon County, Dillon, South Carolina. She was formerly employed by Oak River Mills, Duplan Texturing Company (Dillon Yarn) for 10+ years, Wix Filtration Dana Corporation for 19 years and Council For the Aging. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Hermon Church of God. She was an active and faithful member for 60 years. Mother Manning was known as a mighty prayer warrior by all. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, confidant, preacher, listener, Godly counsellor, and mother of her church. She was a woman of wisdom, grace, love, compassion, sympathy, empathy and of many talents and skills. She was truly that virtuous woman talked about in Proverbs 31:10-31. She would tell you the truth. She gave good advice that was always backed up with the Word of God. Mother Manning will always be remembered as a sweet, loving person and was that way to everyone she met. Our lives have been blessed having known her. She was married to the late Willie Edward Manning (Ed) in 1949. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother John L. Bethea, her brother William Charles Bethea of Virginia Beach, Va. and her sisters Iona Bethea and Mary Willie Johnson of Atlantic City, NJ. Left to cherish her love includes her sister, Teressa B. Hill of Sicklerville, NJ; children: Willie B. (Ethel) Manning, Rosemary (Glenn) Fulmore, Marjorie Manning of the home, Sheila M. (Christopher E.) Taylor all of Dillon, SC, two special sons: Willie Bo (Vanessa) Leach of Augusta, Ga. and James E. (Alice) Manning of Dillon, SC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law: Mildred Tarte, Russell (Connie) Manning, Fannie Bell Manning, Zula Mae Manning, Helen Manning; a special friend: Julia Ward, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
