Obituary of Mrs. Donna Murphy

We, the Prestige Funeral Home Staff, respectfully announce the passing of Mrs. Donna Murphy. The family will begin receiving friends daily on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1413 Devon Drive, Dillon, SC. Please remember the Murphy Family in your prayers as they prepare to Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mrs. Donna Murphy. The obituary: Donna Jean Murphy, the daughter of the late Inez Whittington Alford and James Charles Alford was born on December 2, 1957, in Dillon, South Carolina. Donna received her education in the public schools of Dillon, South Carolina. She later furthered her education at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. For many years she was employed with Marion-Dillon Board of Disabilities and Special Needs upon retirement. Donna was a great lover of people and in return people loved her. Donna’s unconditional love for everyone was shown through her acts of compassion. She shared a special relationship with everyone who she encountered; she NEVER met a stranger. Donna was a member of Manning Baptist Church for many years, and focused a closer walk with the Lord Jesus Christ as she accepted him as her personal savior. On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the Lord smiled upon one of his angels and rescued Donna from her pain and suffering. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Avin L. Murphy, her twin Deborah Alford, very special loved ones Thelma W. McRae, Ruby L. Stanley, and James Alford. Loved ones who will cherish her precious memories forever are her daughters, Celeste Walls of Charlotte, NC, Jessica Williams of Charlotte, NC, one (1) son Travis (Varnetta) Murphy of Columbia, SC. Two stepsons Demetrius Davis of Dillon, SC and Brian Murphy of Concord, NC. Four (4) grandchildren; Khazion Hunter, Zihmier Hunter, Zi’Vier Brown, Ava Murphy and One (1) expecting grandbaby. One (1) sister Cynthia G. Joynes of Dillon, SC and one (1) brother Derrick L. McRae of Albany, NY. Five (5) special nephews: Justen Alford, Nicholas Alford, Jarvis Breeden, Keon Breeden and Three (3) nieces: Tejah Breeden, Kendra Pringle and Janaill McRae. Five (5) sisters-in-law: Two (2) brothers-in-law and a host of other nieces and nephews. One (1) Aunt Rosie McCoy of Columbia, SC. Special cousins that she called sisters, Denise Ham, Georgette Alford, and Rose McRae. A host of other family members. Special friends: Hattie Hargrove, Queenie Long, Pam Singletary and Susan Wilkins and a host of other relatives and friends.
