Obituary of Mr. Vance Freeman McCollum

We, the Prestige Funeral Home Staff, respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Vance Freeman McCollum. The family will begin receiving friends at 2242 East Hwy 9, Smutherman’estate (Riverdale) on Friday, May 19, 2023 after 12:00 p.m. Please remember the McCollum Family in your prayers as they are preparing to celebrate the Life and Legacy of Mr. Vance Freeman McCollum. The obituary: Vance Freeman McCollum, age seventy-four, of the Riverdale Community in Dillon, SC, passed away on May 16, 2023 after being ill for a period of six months. Vance was born on April 01, 1949 to Daniel and Lou Ellen McCollum in Dillon, SC. He worked for Guy Lane’s Body Shop and C T Lester Body Shop for many years as an auto body repairman. He enjoyed restoring automobiles and mostly spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lou Ellen; his eldest brother, Daniel Mack McCollum; and his second son, Willie Junior McCollum. Vance leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Levance McCollum and Jermaine Smith; Katrina Nance (Sister), Willie McCollum (brother), Corrine Williams (Sister), Tina Sellers (Sister), Archie Thomas McCollum (brother); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He and his family attended Fork Chapel Baptist Church in Lake View, SC. Vance enjoyed drag racing, fishing, gardening, and most of all grilling with his family. He was known for being “dapper”. He took pride in creasing those jeans!
